Client: City of Greater Shepparton
Type: Park Planning & Design
Date: 1999-present
This project began with the development of a landscape master plan for Shepparton’s primary open space.
The work involved assessment of existing vegetation and uses. A CAD based plan was then developed to show how this significant park could be developed over a 20 year time frame with works which are proposed as a priority developed and costed as a basis for future grant applications.
Considerable attention was given to the design of the surrounding road system so it better integrated with the park.
This project received a commendation award in the AILA Victorian and Tasmanian Awards 2000 in the Urban Master Plans category.
This master plan led to the funding of a range of projects, all consistent with the overall intent of the plan. Those completed, or committed, by early 2003 were valued at approximately $2.5 million dollars with commercial developments of equivalent value also being planned.
Urban Initiatives have contributed to the design or coordination of all projects implemented including those designed by other landscape architects, such as the Skate Park, (Aspect) and the All abilities Playground (Mary Jeavons), to assist their integration with the master plan.
